Travelling in Oslo
The most convenient way of getting from Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, and to the city center is to take the Airport Express train “Flytoget”. The train departures are every 10 minutes from Oslo Airport and it takes ~20 minutes to get to the city center (exit at either Oslo S or Nationaltheateret depending on where your hotel is located). Tickets for the Airport Express can be purchased in advance online or by tapping your bank card when entering the train station. An alternative is a regular train (blue icon in the Ruter app, see below) that has around three departures per hour and takes ~25 minutes to get to the city center .

Tickets for public transportation are most easily bought through the Ruter app (Oslo's public transport company) or in kiosks (such as Narvesen, 7-Eleven or Deli De Luca). A single ticket in Zone 1 costs NOK 44, and lasts for 60 minutes. A 24-hour ticket costs NOK 132 and a weekly ticket costs NOK 366. The same ticket applies to all kinds of public transport in the city center (metro, trams, buses and ferries). For suggested routes and timetables, use for example Ruter's webpage or Google Maps.
Sightseeing
You can find many suggestions on what to do as a tourist in Oslo at visitoslo.com. They have also collected some useful practical information about Oslo/Norway here.
For a unique-to-Oslo experience we recommend visiting the Vigeland sculpture park. For museum lovers, we note that Munch Museum has free entrance on Wednesdays from 6 pm and that National Museum is open until 8 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. And of course, many Oslo captivating nature attractions are open all day long!
Accomodation
Any hotel in the city centre will work, as the distance to relevant public transport is generally short. The following hotels, in different price classes, are close to the Nationaltheatret metro (t-bane) station – it is a short commute to Blindern campus:
